Hey FOOLS! Moovember has gone Boxing film crazy! Today marks the third Boxing film of 2009 and I'm starting to doubt my randomiser. No Alien films, Pirates films, Matrix or LOTR. Ok breathe biggeoff, breathe. It's nearly over.
I really love the character of Rocky but today I wasn't in the mood, I'm still reeling after Million Dollar Baby two days ago but in terms of boxing films Rocky II is the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Basically the films starts where the first left off. After the fight Apollo Creed is unhappy with the way the fight turned out people are claiming the fight was rigged and that he wasn't as good a fighter as Rocky. Rocky on the other hand tries to move on with his life but is unhappy with the regular jobs he is trying to hold down, Adrian and Rocky get married and Adrian falls pregnant. Meanwhile Creed challenges Rocky to a rematch and begins to taunt Rocky in the press, Rocky takes up the challenge and begins to train for the fight.
If you love Rocky then Rocky II is porbably a film you still love, if you're a general fan you'll watch Rocky II and think it is virtually the same film as Rocky except this time Rocky isn't courting Adrian. I really don't have a great deal to say about the film, the fights seemed really staged and the fact they went another 15 rounds where Rocky got his beat on the Creed gets his beat on and they go back and forth until the final bell rings. I have to say I love the amount of screen time Mickey gets in the second film though. If you want a good Rocky film hit the first or hit Rocky Balboa.
Highlights: Mickey, Apollo Creed's moustache and Adrian's beret
Lowlights: Stallone grated me a bit here, too much Rocky for me today and Million Dollar baby has left me boxed out
