There was a time there where Australia was the place to go to make movies. When there was Star Wars prequels and the Matrix trilogy all kicking ass at the box office but then it sort of died away. Then the fear came when George miller couldn’t get tax breaks for the doomed Justice League film. Obviously there were films like Ghost Rider (A Texas location with Gum trees??) and self titled Australia (you couldn’t really do that anywhere else) but i wasn't really excited??.
This coming year will change that and it is a great time for the Aussie film industry as big productions are coming down again. First off it seems that Green Lantern will be down here and according to a source it will filming around Melbourne’s Avalon airport for up to 6 weeks doing Hal Jordan’s test pilot scenes. If Narnia makes it back to screen it is talk that they will be back down here around Queensland or Sydney. But the cool thing we have learnt from our friend is that 20000 leagues under the sea will also head it’s way down here and rumour has it will start filming at the end of this year. This is on the fast track and if Will Smith signs on then expect McG’s version of the classic tale to be priority number one for Disney. Aussie, Aussie Aussie oi oi oi
