Hey FOOLS! Prester John and I have just got back from the Land of the Lost premiere where we got to speak with director Brad Silberling, i'll put the full interview up tomorrow but I did get to ask him if we'll ever get to see a Lemony Snicket sequel as A Series of Unfortunate Events is on high rotation in the biggeoff house and we often discuss the want for more Snicket-y goodness. So here is what the man himself had to say.
You know it's really funny there was a period of time, about a year ago, where I would have said "Oh, good luck" because it was mired in so many things. It was a co-production between Paramount and Dreamworks and there were studio politics and I actually think it's going to see the light of day. <Name removed for privacy reasons> and I, he's the writer of... is very friendly with Mr. Snicket I should say, we stay in constant touch about it, because I would love nothing more than to do that and we've been hoping to, so I think there will be a chance it may take a wildly different form but I think it will probably happen.
So there you have it, no word on when this will begin or where we did ask Silberling what he's next project is and it is not Snicket, it is a self written satire about the current economic climate, but when we do see it it will be a little different, perhaps there will be no Beaudelare children, I assume this would be logical as all the kids have grown up quite a lot since 2004. Perhaps Count Olaf returns to try and weasel money out of some other poor orphaned children, either way I can't wait to see more from the Lemony Snicket series. I think Silberling is an extremely capable director and that has been reaffirmed tonight after watching Land of the Lost. Check back tomorrow for the full interview and a review of Land of the Lost.
